I am currently reading the book 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson which I am in the midst of, right now. One of the things I predict from the clues of what the author is writing is when the main character, Ginny, will have to go on another one of her aunt's tiering adventures to a different place in Europe. I predict this will happen because, so far in the book Ginny has traveled to many places around Europe, looking for different things that she is sent to find. The author gives me clues that this might be happening, because in the text, after Ginny finishes her task in each country, the author starts to lead Ginny's thoughts into a new direction. Also, when Ginny gets tired of a place she has been in, she starts to embark a new task. Ginny's feelings lead her to different places, too. For example, when Ginny starts to miss her friends and family, and as she thinks about it more, Ginny would go to her computer and write to her friends.
I am currently reading The Blood of Olympus, book five in The Heroes of Olympus series. It is very hard for me to think of a prediction because I am still really early in the book. But I think that the earth god is going to awake and plunge earth into chaos or something like that. I think when the demigods on the Argo 2 try to sail around the Peloponnese the earth gods forces will be there to stop them and then an epic battle will rage. I also think that as the battle rages on some of the demigods will be captured and all of them will be scattered and it will be almost hopeless to come back together. But the gods might help them out and try but since there two personalities are tearing them apart it will be hard. That is my prediction for what will happen in The Blood of Olympus it probably won't happen but I really hope it does.
I am reading Wonder, by RJ Palicio which I am halfway through now. One of the things I predict is that August will become great friends with Summer and will have a disappointing and awkward conversation with Jack Will. I think this will happen because, previously August overheard Jack Will saying that he was being forced to hang out with August, and be so nice. I think Summer will become great friends with August because she is the only person that truly likes August for his personality, and not hate him for his looks. This book has been great so far and I can't wait to finish it, Thanks for recommending it Katerina Kalamatianos.
I am currently re-reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. When I finished the last book in the Percy Jackson series, The Last Olympian, I felt like I didn’t want the story of Percy Jackson to end. I predicted that since this one character, Nico, had a hard time in the series, he would have an even harder time in the next series. Another prediction I made was if there was a new war about to be waged, it would be more terrible than the last because the “bad guys” seemed to want revenge after being defeated. They were restless.
I am currently reading the book, Revenge of Seven, written by Pittacus Lore. The story is about aliens, from a planet called Lorien, who are like people, but they have certain superpowers called legacies. These aliens have to protect the world from a planet called Mogadore that is trying to take over earth. I believe that the aliens will receive extra legacies to help them defeat the the Mogadorians, people from Mogadore. When one of the aliens says to the planet Lorien’s spirit, “I’m open to them. Load me up. Give me enough legacies to destroy Setrakus Ra,the leader of Mogadore, and his fleet of Mogadorians,” that immediately made me believe that they would receive more legacies in order to save the planet earth.
I have just started reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. At this point in the book the wolves living in the woods behind Grace’s neighborhood have recently killed a boy named Jack Culpepper. Grace has a deep connection to these wolves, with one in particular. And somehow, she just knows that they would not have killed this boy without good reason. The author has her come across two familiar wolves and one new wolf in the woods, but this new wolf has familiar eyes. I predict that this new wolf she has never seen before is Jack Culpepper, the boy who was supposedly killed. I predict that she will find out he was bitten and turned into a wolf, that he never died. And this new finding will be her first encounter with werewolves. I presume that this will lead her to uncover the truth about her wolf. I envision that upon finding Jack as a wolf she will come across a boy with her wolf's eyes and know definitively who he is, jumping into their ongoing feelings for each other with no boundaries.
I am currently reading two books: The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks, and I am re-reading the Son of Neptune, by Rick Riordan. Because I have already read the Son of Neptune, I will talk about the Sword of Shannara. The two main characters are half-brothers named Shea and Flick, and earlier in the book they were visited by a giant of a man named Allanon. He told them to meet him in a city a few miles away and then left in a hurry because there was something urgent. The brothers decided to believe him and travelled to the city, but the whole time they were hunted by a kind of demon: A Skull Bearer. The fact that Allanon (a big and powerful wizard) was being so mysterious and urgent and that the main bad guy, Brona, would waste a Skull Bearer’s time on the brothers, lead me to believe that they will have a strong role to play, probably something much like Frodo and Sam in the Lord of the Rings.
I'm currently reading the book Linger written by Maggie Stiefvater. I think that in later on in the book something wrong is going to happen with the new wolves. I think that there is definitely something wrong with how one of the new wolves was so comfortable with changing. I think also think that Cole is going to have a very key role in the rest of the book; I think he might cause a lot of trouble. I’m very excited to see were the goes with the story.
I am currently reading a dystopian novel called undivided, written by Neal Shusterman. CAUTION: SPOILERS. On page 14 the author describes how Sonia has found the machine that her husband created that can take an organ or body part, and make “copy’s” of them. This is a huge deal in the unwinding world. The printer has been smashed so no one could find out about it, so someone has to fix it. When Sonia gives the printer to Connor and his group, the question is will Connor reveal this treasure to the world? And even if he did, would it solve unwinding? Lastly, will they fix the printer? “‘We’ll have to reverse engineer it,” Risa says. “So it can be reproduced.”//The small prototype has an output dish large enough to deliver the eye Grace requested—but clearly the technology could be appealed to larger machines. The idea sends Connor’s mind reeling. 'If every hospital could print organs and tissues for it’s patients, the whole system of unwinding collapses!’” Based on what the quote says, I think a few things. First, I think that Connor and his group will reverse engineer the printer. Second, I think that Connor will slowly show people this machine once he has reproduced it.

ReplyDeleteThis was a cool book, and I enjoyed reading your insights. What did you think about the structure?

Why do you think it probably won't happen? Would it be too exciting? Too unrealistic (within the genre?)

ReplyDeleteAugust is such a great character, and it is enjoyable to watch the way relationships develop. I'm glad you're liking the book!

ReplyDeleteWhat do you think would happen if the series continued?

ReplyDeleteWhat number book is this in the series? Does that also help you make a prediction?

ReplyDeleteThe relationships between Grace and the wolves are interesting. Why is she so drawn to them? I wonder if your predictions are correct :)

ReplyDeleteSo, they make new parts???? To repair the people who have been unwound??? Hmmmm...I'm intrigued.
