I am reading the third book in the 'Land of Stories' series by Chris Colfer. My favorite part about this book so far occurs in the first three chapters. It all starts when Connor decides to go Europe and his sister Alex gets jealous. She lives in the fairy-tale world now and and is learning to become part of the fairy council. They share both sides of a magic mirror that is used as either Skype or Face-Time. They both break off a small piece to use to stay in touch Connor brings his to Europe and Alex uses in the fairy world.
Alyana, I love the idea of fairy-tale worlds using face-time and Skype! Is Chris Colfer the guy from Glee? Is he a good author? It sounds like an interesting series.
I am just finishing up "If I Stay" by Gayle Forman. It is about a girl named Mia who is on a road trip with her family when they get into a terrible crash. She then has an out-of-body experience. If she wakes up, she will be an orphan. But how can she leave her other family, best friend, and boyfriend behind?
Whitney, You do a good job not giving too much away in your description. I can't wait to hear more about what you think about the book and how the author crafted it.
My independent reading book is called "Warriors: the untold stories" and It is writen by Erin Hunter. This book tells the stories of three cats, Hollyleaf, Mistystar and Cloudstar and the troubles they face through their lives. This is a series book, so you would have had to read the series first to fully understand, but over all it is an action-packed story with lots of suspense.
I just started the book "Point Blank" in the Alex Rider series. The author of the the series is Anthony Horowitz. At the beginning of the book, multimillionaire, Michael J. Roscoe is the target of an assassination plot. As Roscoe arrives at the airport, he is clueless that a man is following him. (This is where I stopped). I noticed that in the end of chapters, the author left the story on a cliff hanger which makes the reader want to read on.
Hi Brendan, The Alex Rider series is a great one! The author definitely stops each chapter leaving the reader wanting more. I wonder what other techniques you'll notice as you read on.
I am reading the book "Counting by 7's" by Holly Goldberg Sloan. It is about Willow Chance, a twelve year old genius who is obsessed with nature and medical conditions. Willow has never been the kind of girl that fits in with the "normal" people, but that doesn't stop her from living a happy life with her adoptive parents. However, Willow's world is turned upside down when the two people she loves most die, leaving her to continue living in the baffling world with the help of a new friend.
Hi Saya, Did you know this is one of Ms. Salewski's favorite books? She tells me to read almost everyday. So, your job is to convince me to do the same! I hope you enjoy it as much as she did.
I am currently reading the book "Burn Bright" by Bethany Frenette. The book is written in the perspective of Audrey Whitticomb in her journey to defeat the Harrowers. Along with training every week, Audrey struggles for a normal life, but as the Harrowers become more deceptive, Audrey has to find a way to stop them before they track down the Remnant, a Kin, just like Audrey and many others, that has a power to unleash the Harrowers secret. But is the truth right in front of her already?
Katerina, Is this a dystopian novel? It sounds intriguing, and I'm not familiar with it. I'm always on the lookout for something new. Keep me update on how you are enjoying it!
I am reading the book "Shiver" by Maggie Steifvater. The book is written through the eyes of Grace Brisbane, a curious and independent teenage girl who has always been fascinated by the wolves that roam in her backyard. Ever since she was young, she would watch them every winter. Although she enjoyed watching all of them, she took a special interest in one wolf with beautiful yellow eyes. When Grace discovers that the wolf she has always admired is a werewolf living a double life, her whole world turns upside down. As Grace and the young man she now knows as Sam slowly fall in love, they must face the inevitable event of their separation when Sam can no longer be human.
Abby, I really enjoyed this book. I read it around the same time I read _Twilight_ and thought it was much richer and had a much better female protagonist. I loved the way their relationship developed. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
I am reading Gregor and the Code of Claw by Suzanne Collins. It is an exciting adventure about Gregor's adventures throughout the mysterious underland. In this book the queen of the underland has declared war. All the animals in the underlands are 10 times there size as they are in the real world. The humans and the rats have been feuding for years but the queen of the human city of Regalia finally declares war on the rats for slaughtering the mice. In this tale of war the humans are trying to save mice while the rats are fighting them. I have not finished this book but so far it is an epic story with lots of bloodshed. This book is 90% bloodshed with 10% of feelings, this book is so exciting it will keep you on your toes.
Parth, I so enjoyed _The Hunger Games_ that I often stopped to check out this series, but never have. I look forward to discussing it with you. Is it a series, or just a single book?

Nicole,
DeleteThis sounds interesting. Do the cats take on human characteristics? Do they seem realistic? I'm intrigued as to how it all works.
